The Entrepreneur’s Cup, presented by Love’s Travel Stops, provides a platform for the next generation of business leaders to showcase their innovative ideas and support toward transforming these concepts into thriving businesses. Now approaching its 20th year, this statewide collegiate business plan competition is unveiling a fresh look, an exciting new award category, and a streamlined competition structure.
The Entrepreneur’s Cup simulates the real-world process of researching a market, writing a business plan, and making a presentation to potential investors. Over 2,700 students across 30 Oklahoma colleges have participated, pitching more than 820 ideas for both small business and high-growth ventures. Thanks to committed sponsors, Entrepreneur’s Cup students have received an impressive $2.4 million in scholarships and awards.
To commemorate two impactful decades of growing future entrepreneurs, the competition has been reimagined with a more modern look and structure. The updated branding signifies the passion, ambition, and collaboration that makes a successful business leader. Additionally, an innovative new application software will contribute to a more streamlined experience for participating teams.
Another exciting addition is the Black Oak Social Entrepreneurship Award, funded by the Moore Family. Social entrepreneurship blends business expertise, innovation, and a strong commitment to creating a positive impact on society or the environment – demonstrating it’s possible to make a profit and positively impact society at the same time. Up to $9,000 in prize money awaits the top three ideas that best integrate social causes into their business models.
“We are thrilled to announce these updates and to bring a more modern vision to this impactful program,” Shannon Carr, i2E communications director, said. “Our student teams deliver the most innovative and world-changing ideas, and we are committed to keeping the Entrepreneur’s Cup relevant and engaging as well.”
For students interested in participating in the 2024 Entrepreneur’s Cup, a virtual, introductory workshop will take place on January 18, with applications opening on January 22. The Entrepreneur’s Cup workshop will educate aspiring collegiate entrepreneurs on the essentials of entrepreneurship like researching an idea, writing a business plan, making financial projections, and effective pitching.
