Students from northeastern Oklahoma were among the winners of this year’s Governor’s Cup competition, which challenges university teams to develop a business plan centered around a new technological concept.
Taking the top $20,000 prize in the high-growth graduate division was EchoCharge, a University of Tulsa team centered around a technology that captures sound vibrations to generate electricity to charge cellphone batteries.
Turtle One, also from TU, took the $5,000 third-place prize in the same division.
Yet another TU team, Code Sooq, was awarded the top $20,000 price in the high-growth undergraduate division for a technology to create an online marketplace that connects software coders with projects submitted by companies seeking software development.
In the new small business category, J-Paxers from Rogers State University won the $8,000 second-place prize, and Revolutionary Transportation from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College got the $4,000 third-place prize.
The Governor’s Cup, underwritten by the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation and more than two dozen local sponsors, is managed by i2E Inc.
