What was your first job?

I couldn’t have asked for a better first job.  Refereeing soccer and basketball for younger kids gave me the chance to be around the things I loved most and make money at the same time.

What is the best piece of advice you have ever been given as an entrepreneur?

Blue sky visions are how companies are born.  Grit and precise execution are how they thrive.

Where do you come up with the inspiration for your ideas?

I am a firm believer in the value of continuous learning and the creative process.  I try to read for at least 30 minutes a day about topics across many different industries and often find that the best ideas come from pulling practices from one industry into another.

Do you have a routine before your pitch to investors?

I try to keep the same routine every day to cut down on the number of little decisions.  A quick workout and a balanced breakfast typically get me going.

What is the biggest mistake that you have ever made as an entrepreneur?

The 80-100 hour work week is something that can get the best of any entrepreneur.  When you lack time to recharge company culture and work product suffer.  No one incident comes to mind, but our whole leadership team has done its best to balance the need for long hours while still taking time to recharge our batteries on a regular basis.
